Striding up Skiddaw for Anxious Minds

On Saturday 22nd June, a team from Portland travelled across to Keswick to take part in the second PCE charity hike.  This year’s effort saw the team stride up Skiddaw, undertaking a challenging 12-mile route.  The team’s charity of choice this year was Anxious Minds, a Tyneside-based charity specialising in mental health support services across the North-East.   Our efforts saw us raise an incredible £3294 to help Anxious Minds improve the regions mental health.

The Portland summer hikes have rapidly become a favourite event in the office social calendar, with everyone who came along getting into the spirit, ensuring a fantastic atmosphere and an enjoyable day for all.   This was aided in no small part by the almost perfect conditions we enjoyed on the day, sunny, warm (but not too hot!) and, most importantly, dry.  As soon as everyone was safely off Skiddaw, the team headed back into Keswick to enjoy a well-deserved meal and a few drinks, after all, hiking is thirsty work!

The team wants to thank everyone who donated to our campaign this year.  We’re grateful for every donation we’ve received to support a fantastic charity providing an invaluable service.  We’re already looking forward to next summers hiking adventure!
