In addition to the classroom extension, the reception was remodeled and new office facilities were created which allowed the route to the entrance to be enhanced.
Light Gauge Steel framing was confirmed as providing a cost effective alternative. Foundations were designed as a raft to allow the existing shallow drainage to be bridged over while at the same time facilitating the erection of the LGS frame. The geometry of the abutting existing building was complex and a detailed survey was undertaken to allow the structural interfaces to be successfully designed and detailed.
